The Himos leisure centre is growing and developing rapidly. The first projects, carried out in accordance with the Master Plan made for the Himos area in 2005, have been completed: the HimosAreena project was finished in late 2006, and the new chair lift was completed in time for the 2007–2008 skiing season. More new holiday apartments are built every season. Also, a spa hotel has been planned.

The Patajoki channel, between Patalahti and Päijänne, will be completed in 2009, and construction of a new 18-hole golf course near the HimosYkkönen area begin in summer 2009/10.

The increasing popularity of Himos is largely due to the ever better and more versatile holiday services available all year round, and the excellent location. Himos is about 220 km from the capital, Helsinki – only 2.5 hours’ drive away. It takes less than a tank of petrol to get there and back.
